Frequently asked questions.

What is a birth doula?

A birth doula provides physical and emotional support during labor, birth, and immediate postpartum.

What is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula provides support during the postpartum period. They can help with breastfeeding, pumping, baby care, helping mom get more sleep, and basic house care (laundry, dishes, light meals, and light housekeeping).

When do I need to take a childbirth class?

My classes range from 4 hours to 10 weeks. Ideally, you would register for a birth class around 23-28 weeks. Classes are planned months in advanced and are offered quite frequently. I can help you find a class that is right for you.

When should I hire a birth doula?

Ideally, the earlier the better! My calendar fills up quickly with classes and clients. I have been contacted the second the pregnancy test shows “positive”, and I have also been contacted 3 weeks before the due date. I like to have time to get to know you and your family, answer any questions you have, and possibly have you in my birth classes. Contact me and let’s see if I’m the right doula for you!

Do I need to take a birth class?

YES!!! Birth classes help you and your partner know what to expect during labor, birth, and postpartum. The information you learn in classes will be beneficial to you for years to come! Taking a birth class can help you be more confident in your choices, teach you that you have a voice in your birth, and will help you and your partner work together as a team to bring your child into the world.
