“Caren is not only a passionate birth educator, she is also a wonderful and caring doula. She has been a doula for my family for two births. She always does a great job of supporting me (and my husband) and suggesting things that help keep my labor moving. She is respectful of our birth preferences. She is super knowledgeable and links us to helpful resources all the time (for example: different birth related services we are looking for, and answering a plethora of our questions, especially when we were 1st time parents!). As a mom who struggled with nursing her first baby, it was a relief to have someone listen to my concerns and connect me with helpful resources (I ended up nursing my first for 18 months!). “I had my first child back in 2015, and as I was very uninformed about my options… when I learned that I was pregnant for a second time, I decided that I wanted to pursue natural birth again, but I wanted to make some more different choices this time around…
I have been friends with Caren for several years, and having seen how much she cares for her clients and how passionate she was about supporting women in getting the birth they desired - she was a natural choice to ask to be my doula for my second birth. And I am so glad that I did.
Caren was so supportive throughout the whole process. She met with me and my husband ahead of time and listened to our concerns and desires for our birth, and made really helpful suggestions for what to bring and what to do during labor.
She met us at the hospital and stayed with us until about an hour after our daughter was born.
During my labor she was so encouraging and supportive - making suggestions of things that might help me be more comfortable and relaxed. Often times it was things that I would never have thought about or asked for - but were so helpful.
The main thing I had said that I wanted to be different during this birth than my first - was that I needed more encouragement and for someone to be helping me with what to do - Caren did exactly that!
I would say my second birth was a very positive experience, and I know that Caren was a big part of that.”
